Chaos-Forum : Hi BOBBY,it's really nice to be able to finally make this interview with you.before starting to talk about the album"OUTWORLD"i would like to get to know you a bit better, tell me how did your long term relationship with music start?



WHEN I FIRST CAME TO HOUSTON AT AGE 9, I STARTED HEARING HARD ROCK BANDS. I LOVED TO PRETEND LIKE I WAS JAMMING OUT TO THE SONGS, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY ANYTHING. AS A YOUNG TEENAGER SOME FRIENDS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND I STARTED A BAND.....AND I PLAYED DRUMS JUST BECAUSE THERE WAS NOBODY ELSE TO FILL THOSE SHOES. SO I LEARNED ON MY OWN. I EVENTUALLY TOOK MUSIC IN SCHOOL AND PLAYED THE TROMBONE FOR A WHILE, THEN IN HIGH SCHOOL I WAS THE DRUMMER IN THE VOCAL ENSEMBLE CLASS. I'VE ALSO PLAYED A LITTLE BASS GUITAR AND SANG SOME, BUT WHEN I STARTED PLAYING kEYBOARDS I REALIZED THAT'S AN INSTRUMENT THAT I COULD STAY INTERESTED IN.

Chaos-Forum : Do you remember the first piece of music you ever composed?



SURE DO, I CALLED IT "ESCAPE".IT WAS COMPOSED WITH A DRUM MACHINE AND KEYBOARDS, THAT'S IT. AS A MATTER OF FACT, IT WAS THE MUSIC I USED TO SHOW RUSTY WHEN HE WAS LOOKING FOR A KEYBOARDIST FOR HIS INSTRUMENTAL PROJECT. I HAD DONE OTHER LITTLE FUN PIECES OF MUSIC HERE AND THERE BUT NOTHING THAT SERIOUS UNTIL I STARTED PLAYING THE KEYBOARDS.

Chaos-Forum : I am sure there were many important events in your life BOBBY,can you remember one specific thing that happened and changed your life forever and helped to get you where you are today?

YES! I SAW YNGWIE MALMSTEEN IN CONCERT OPENING UP FOR AC/DC BACK IN THE 1980'S.
I HAD ONLY HEARD OF YNGWIE BEFORE, NEVER SEEN HIM LIVE. THE WAY HE LOOKED ON STAGE, COMBINED WITH HIS NEOCLASSICAL METAL WAS JUST BRILLIANT. IT JUST CLICKED WITH ME, THERE WAS SOMETHING SO MAJESTIC AND MAGICAL ABOUT IT.........EVER SINCE THAT NIGHT I'VE HAD THE FIRE BURNING INSIDE MY HEART.

Chaos-Forum : What were your feelings at the time you were invited to join OUTWORLD?



WELL I WAS PART OF THE ORIGINATION OF OUTWORLD. I WAS INVITED TO PLAY WITH RUSTY ON HIS INSTRUMENTAL CD, THEN OUTWORLD WAS BORN FROM THAT. WE HAD DECIDED TO KEEP THE SAME BAND.
BUT TO GET A VOCALIST INVOLVED.......THAT'S WHEN THE STYLE OF OUR MUSIC CHANGED. WE STARTED GETTING HEAVIER FOCUSED ON WRITING SONGS FOR A VOCALIST TO TAKE PART IN.

Chaos-Forum : What can you tell us about OUTWORLD album, and how are you integrating into the band?

WE BELIEVE THAT THIS DEBUT ALBUM OF OURS HAS A UNIQUE QUALITY ABOUT IT....AND THAT IS EACH SONG HAS IT'S OWN DISTINCT PERSONALITY.....NO SONG SOUNDS THE SAME. THAT'S SOMETHING THAT IS IMPORTANT TO ME PERSONALLY........I TRY TO USE MY KEYBOARDS TO COLOR A SONG A DIFFERENT WAY FROM THE LAST. THE BAND MEMBERS ALSO AGREE WITH THIS WAY OF WRITING.

Chaos-Forum : How come you named the band "OUTWORLD",what the story behind that name?

TO US, OUTWORLD MEANS A PLACE THAT YOU HAVE ESCAPED TO, ESCAPING REALITY IN A MENTAL SENSE, OR EVEN ESCAPING THE PHYSICAL WORLD WE LIVE IN. IF YOU TAKE A LOOK AT OUR ARTWORK, YOU'LL SEE A PORTAL IN THE PICTURE........IF YOU GO THROUGH THAT PORTAL THEN YOU ESCAPE FROM THE CLAUSTROPHIC, CLUTTERED, MUNDANE, .CRUEL and ARROGANT WORLD WE ALL LIVE IN TODAY.

Chaos-Forum : Let's talk about your songwriting .what's the kinds of your lyrics?



THE LYRICS ON THIS DEBUT ALBUM ARE AN EXACT REPRESENTATION OF THE ARTWORK YOU'LL SEE ON OUR CD. THE LYRICS REPRESENT ANYTHING FROM THE GREED OF HUMANITY TO WHAT IT WOULD BE LIKE TO LIVE AGAIN IN TIMES WHERE LANDS WERE NOT OVER-POPULATED WITH HIGH-RISE BUILDINGS TO THE REBELLION OF THE SCHEMING ANTICS OF SOME CORPORATIONS TO A SOCIETY WHICH BREEDS SERIAL KILLERS, ETC. EACH SONG SAYS SOMETHING DIFFERENT, AND SOUNDS DIFFERENT.......FOR INSTANCE OUR SONG "CITY OF THE DEAD" IS A STORY ABOUT HOW A GREEDY MAN IS HUNTING FOR THE TREASURES IN EGYPT.......AND OF COURSE WE USE THE APPROPRIATE TONES AND SCALES FOR THAT KIND OF IDEA, AND WE HAVE "I. THANATOS" WHICH IS A SONG BASED ON THE PERSPECTIVE OF A SERIAL KILLER, HOW HE THINKS AND OPERATES, HIS VIEW OF THE WORLD, ETC.

Chaos-Forum : Is OUTWORLD in process of recording a new album?if so ,when do you expect it to be released?

WE FINISHED RECORDING OUR CD AND IT'S DUE OUT ON REPLICA RECORDS ON OCTOBER 2rd, 2006! WE CAN'T WAIT!

Chaos-Forum : What bands and keyboard players have inspired you by the years?

OF COURSE JENS JOHANNSEN, KEVIN MOORE, AND RECENTLY KEVIN CODFERT OF ADAGIO. I'VE ALWAYS LOVED MELODIC/POWER METAL BANDS LIKE HELLOWEEN, MALMSTEEN, IRON MAIDEN, AS WELL AS PROGRESSIVE BANDS LIKE QUEENSRYCHE, DREAM THEATER, FATES WARNING, RUSH........AND EVEN SOME LIGHTER METAL/HARD ROCK LIKE EUROPE, 220 VOLT......ETC.

Chaos-Forum : Do you believe that videos are a good way of promoting music,or not?

YES!

Chaos-Forum : Would the band be interested to make one in the near future?



AS A MATTER OF FACT WE ARE ABOUT TO START RECORDING ONE SOON, THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE RELEASED WITH OUR CD AS BONUS MEDIA.

Chaos-Forum : Which is the most memorable moment in your career so far ?

WHEN OUTWORLD SIGNED OUR FIRST RECORD DEAL. IT WAS OVER AT RUSTY'S HOUSE, I'LL NEVER FORGET IT....IT'S SOMETHING WE'VE ALL DREAMED OF OUR WHOLE LIFE, A RECORD DEAL! :)

Chaos-Forum : Is there a place you'd love to play where you haven't played before?

MEXICO, SOUTH AMERICA, EUROPE, JAPAN, CANADA, AUSTRALIA, CHINA.........HECK WE'D LOVE TO PLAY ANYWHERE REALLY.

Chaos-Forum : If you'll be invited to playing here in MOROCCO do you accepte about this invitation?



SURE WE WOULD........WE ARE FINDING OUT MORE AND MORE ABOUT MOROCCO AND IT SEEMS TO BE A GREAT PLACE TO HAVE A SHOW.

Chaos-Forum : Did you hear something about "KREATOR" when they played here in MOROCCO front of 20 000 persons?

THAT IS FUCKING AMAZING! WE COULD NEVER GET THAT MANY PEOPLE INT HE USA TO SHOW UP FOR ANY METAL CONCERT. I HOPE OUR RECORD LABEL PUTS MOROCCO ON OUR TOUR SCHEDULE.

An awesome band, musically perfect . their album "OUTWORLD" is progressive and melodic as well. OutWorld's line up includes former Beyond Twilight Vocalist Kelly Carpenter and Guitarist Rusty Cooley(one of the greatest guitarists around).
