Chaos-Forum : Hi, How are you Doing?

Perfect... I hope the same for you.

Chaos-Forum : How are things in Memorain at the moment?

Really great, last month we released our third album, "Reduced To Ashes" from EMI Music, and we are really happy with the result.

Chaos-Forum : First , can you give us a short pic of Memorain ?

Yes of course. Memorain was formed in 1999 and in 2001 we released our first demo-cd titled "Until You Die". In 2002 we sign a contract with NMC Music for two albums and a few months later we released our first album "Digital Crimes".
In 2003 we released our second album titled "White Line", featuring James Murphy from Testament, Obituary, Death. Also that years we composed the music theme for the TV Metal show TV War, a show supported by the Greek Metal Hammer. In 2005 we signed a deal with EMI Music and a month ago we released our third album "Reduced To Ashes". In this album we had the chance to work with Nick Menza (Megadeth) and with Jeff Waters from Annihilator, who recorded a solo as a guest. We also contributed songs to numerous compilation albums for labels from all around the world.

Chaos-Forum : What about the name of the band, How would you interpret it and to what does it refer?

Memorain means Rain Of Memories. When I started the band I was looking for a name that could travel you and make you think. And that time our former bass player John came with that name, and I thought it?s great. I want to write music that will make people think about some crazy things that happen in our lives. I want with my music to awake some memories

Chaos-Forum : When did you complete your line up? Was it hard to find the suitable members for the establishing of a Heavy/Thrash band?

This line up is together about two years now and I can say that it was really hard for me to find the right people to work with me. But now I can say that I'm very happy, specially with Nick Menza (ex-Megadeth). It's really great for me to working with Nick, he is an amazing musician and also a really great friend. .

Chaos-Forum : What are your main influences And your fave metal CDs until now?

I really love bands like Megadeth, Metallica, Annihilator and Testament. I'm a big fan of the bay area thrash metal. So... I'm sure now you can understand our influences. Of course that doesn't mean that I don't listen other kinds from the metal scene, I also really like some classic bands, like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath.

Chaos-Forum : Before Memorain, did some of the members took part in other activities?

Yes... But you don't need me to tell you about Nick Menza and Megadeth. I'm sure that you already know.

Chaos-Forum : I would like you to comment on the two first Memorian records (White Line....Digital Crimes ..),I am interesting in what you think, respectively what's your opinion about the songs, covers, lyrics, sound etc?

Digital Crimes was our first release, it was the album that we were trying to find how we can put our thoughts and feelings to our music. All the feelings were really great. I mean... it was our fist album and we were really happy with the whole thing.
White Line was a really different experience for us, it was something new. In this album we had as a special guest James Murphy from Testament. It was amazing from me back then to work with James, I've learned so many great things and I really own him a very big thank you.

Chaos-Forum : What do you think about Peer 2 Peer and What are the advantages and disadvantages of downloading music?

I will not lie to you... Sometimes I use Peer 2 Peer programs but only to check out something new. I download one or two songs and then if like the band the same time I order the cd. You know... internet has a huge power it's up to us how we will use it. I don't agree with people who doesn't buy cds and they only download from Peer 2 Peer programs.

Chaos-Forum : What do you think of the last Anthrax and Megadeth Records? Do you appreciate the last stuff from bands like Overkill , Annihilator and Agent Steel?

I really enjoy the albums of Megadeth, Annihilator and Anthrax, but unfortunately I didn't heard the new stuff from Overkill and Agent Steel, so I
can not tell you anything.

Chaos-Forum : In your opinion, where's the difference and similarity between the American and European Heavy/Thrash scene?

To be honest with you this time it's very hard for someone to tell. Back in the 80's the difference was really clear. The last 10 years the American and the European Heavy/Thrash scene are coming closer. You can see American bands influenced by the European scene and the opposite, I think that the last years the bands and the whole music industry are trying to find their i.d.

Chaos-Forum : Which label originally put out "Reduced To ashes"? Who produced and engineered this record, And what actually happened after the release?

"Reduced To ashes" was released by EMI Music Greece and it was produced by my self and Haris Zourelidis. Right now we are trying to arrange some shows in Europe... we will see.

Chaos-Forum : What can you tell us about Nick Menza as his musical past?

I don't have to say anything except from one word... Megadeth.:)

Chaos-Forum : Are you still in touch with Jeff Water and James Murphy ?

Yes I'm still in touch with Jeff and James. For me this to guys are like teachers, they are really great guys and they are helping me a lot. It's amazing for me to have this two guys giving me advices. I really own a lot o them.

Chaos-Forum : In which country do you want the band to be well known and why?

I don't think that music have boundaries, so I will say everywhere. We are working very hard to promote our music in the whole world.

Chaos-Forum : What about Greece Scene ? Is there already bands like yours in your country?

As far as I know like Memorain no, there aren't any bands here in Greece like us. But I really like a death metal band called Obduktion. Right now I'm working as a producer for their new album. They are really great musicians.

Chaos-Forum : What are you doing in the professional life?

Playing music...:)

Chaos-Forum : Did you hear something about Kreator when they played last year in morocco?

I'm sorry no. Maybe you can give me some infos. Kreator is an amazing band with a big history.

Chaos-Forum : If someone invite you to play in a moroccan festival , what will be your answer?

Fucking YEEEEESSSSS!!!!!!

Chaos-Forum : What can we expect from the Memorain camp in the near and distant future?

We are trying to arrange some live shows for the near future, but it's to soon to tell you any details. We are also working some new material... I can't wait to get in the studio again...

Chaos-Forum : These last words are yours, So what do you want to say to your fans in morocco and the readers of this interview?

I hope you will enjoy our album "Reduced To Ashes", and I hope soon to see you all in a live show Morocco. Stay Heavy...

Chaos-Forum : Thank you so much for you time.
